Ghana scales up AI and digital skills across technical education

Phase two will bring AI and digital skills training to around 140 TVET institutions in the country. The rollout is planned in four consecutive three-month cycles, grouping institutions by region. National stakeholders aim to reach up to one million TVET educators and learners with training and certification by the end of 2027, embedding these competencies across technical and vocational education.

Ghana is part of a wider six-country initiative. India, Kenya, Malaysia, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania are also moving from pilot delivery towards broader national reach, adapting the model to their contexts. Together, these scale-ups seek to build more resilient, inclusive and future-ready TVET systems for an AI-driven economy.

The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education and Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth, supporting UNESCO’s efforts to ensure that technical and vocational education continues to evolve alongside changes in the world of work.
